Manikaran is about 4 km by road from Kasol town. If Kasol is your base, you can set aside a morning for Manikaran without changing rooms. The two places are close, but Manikaran is a pilgrimage town beside the Parvati River, not another part of Kasol.

The road continues from Kasol to Manikaran, so there is no long detour or need to go back to Bhuntar first. The 4 km is between the town centres. Your journey will be a little longer if your stay is outside Kasol or your drop is beyond central Manikaran.

Getting there from Kasol

For the bus, ask where to board in Kasol, where to get off in Manikaran and which return will suit your day. Check on the day you travel, especially if you have another booking later. An online timetable may not tell you where your particular bus stops or whether its return works for you.

A taxi is simpler when you want a direct pickup from your stay or need to be back by a certain time. Agree on the Manikaran drop and your return pickup before setting off. If you are carrying luggage and continuing elsewhere, tell the driver your actual onward destination too.

The road distance is short, but leave the morning free rather than placing another fixed departure straight after the visit.

What makes this a separate visit

Manikaran brings together a gurdwara, Hindu places of worship and the hot springs for which the town is known. Steam rises beside the river, and buildings stand close to the water. It is worth arriving with time to take in the town, not only to stop for a photograph before heading back.

If you enter a place of worship, follow the directions at the entrance and make space for the people who have come to pray. You do not need to plan a list of every shrine to have a worthwhile visit. Choose what matters to you, and let the town be more than a hurried addition to a Kasol itinerary.

Where it fits in your trip

If you are arriving in Kasol from farther away, settle into your stay first and visit Manikaran when you have an open morning. The short ride should not be the reason to squeeze a place of worship between your check-in and another departure.

Our Manali to Kasol guide covers the longer arrival through Kullu and Bhuntar. Once you are based in Kasol, Manikaran can be a visit in its own right, with enough time to return comfortably.

Still choosing your accommodation? Our Kasol stay guide helps you decide when one room makes sense and when another place deserves its own night.
